Glass Enclosure Systems
Panoramic Views. Flexible Protection. Seamless Indoor–Outdoor Living.
STRUCTAAS® Glass Enclosure Systems transform terraces, pergolas, rooftops, balconies and hospitality spaces into flexible, weather-protected environments without sacrificing natural light or panoramic views.
Designed around horizontally moving glass panels, the system allows large openings to transition effortlessly between open-air and enclosed conditions. The glass panels slide, stack or fold toward the sides of the opening, creating maximum transparency when closed and restoring the connection with the outdoors when opened.
Whether integrated with a STRUCTAAS® Bioclimatic Louvre Pergola, Motorized Retractable Roof Structure or an existing building, our glass enclosure systems are configured around the architecture, dimensions and intended use of each project.
Experience the Outdoors Differently
Outdoor spaces should not become unusable simply because the weather changes.
STRUCTAAS® Glass Enclosure Systems provide an adaptable transparent barrier between your space and the surrounding environment.
Close the glass when protection from wind, rain, dust or changing weather conditions is required.
Partially open the panels to introduce controlled natural ventilation.
Slide or stack the panels away when you want a more complete open-air experience.
The result is a space that responds to the environment rather than remaining permanently open or permanently enclosed.
How It Works
Glass panels travel horizontally within engineered aluminium track systems.
Depending on the selected configuration, individual panels can slide independently, move sequentially or slide and stack together toward one or both sides of the opening.
Precision rollers and guide components support smooth panel movement, while aluminium tracks maintain alignment throughout operation.
The system can be configured for:
-
Left-opening
-
Right-opening
-
Centre-opening
-
Sliding and stacking
-
Multi-track sliding
-
Folding and parking
-
Fixed and operable glass combinations
Each configuration is selected according to the available opening, structural conditions and architectural requirements.
Frameless Sliding Glass
Maximum Transparency. Minimum Visual Interruption.
Our frameless sliding configuration is designed for projects where preserving the view is a priority.
Large tempered glass panels move horizontally within upper and lower aluminium tracks while minimizing vertical framing between adjacent glass panels.
When closed, the result is a clean transparent façade with expansive views and natural daylight.
When opened, the panels slide toward the side of the opening, reconnecting the protected area with its outdoor surroundings.
Frameless sliding glass is particularly suitable for:
-
Pergolas
-
Restaurants
-
Cafés
-
Rooftops
-
Terraces
-
Balconies
-
Residential outdoor living areas
-
Hotels and resorts
Sliding & Stacking Glass Systems
For larger openings, glass panels can be configured to slide and park compactly toward one or both ends of the enclosure.
This allows a substantial portion of the glazed façade to be opened while maintaining the benefits of a full-height transparent enclosure when closed.
Sliding and stacking configurations are particularly valuable for hospitality environments where the layout of a terrace or restaurant needs to respond quickly to changing weather and occupancy conditions.
Folding Glass Systems
Folding glass configurations provide another way of maximizing the available opening.
Individual panels move along the track before folding or parking toward the end of the enclosure.
When closed, they form a continuous glazed boundary.
When opened, the panels occupy a comparatively small parking area, allowing the enclosed space to reconnect with the surrounding environment.
Fixed Glass Enclosures
Not every section of a glass enclosure needs to open.
Fixed glazing can be incorporated where permanent weather protection is required or where structural and architectural conditions make an operable panel unnecessary.
Fixed and operable glass sections can therefore be combined within the same project to create a complete enclosure solution.
Glass Options
Glass specification is selected according to the size of the panels, location, wind exposure, structural requirements and intended application.
Available project configurations may include:
Tempered Safety Glass
Tempered glass provides high strength and improved safety characteristics compared with ordinary annealed glass.
Typical project configurations may include 8 mm or 10 mm tempered safety glass, subject to engineering requirements and panel dimensions.
Laminated Safety Glass
Laminated glazing may be considered where additional post-breakage retention or specific project safety requirements apply.
Insulated Glass
For framed enclosure systems requiring enhanced thermal performance, insulated glass units can be considered depending on the selected system and project requirements.
Architectural Glass Finishes
Depending on the project, glazing can be specified in finishes including:
-
Clear glass
-
Light smoke/tinted glass
-
Reflective architectural glass
-
Other project-specific glazing options
Final glass thickness and specification are determined during technical review.
Engineered Aluminium Track System
The performance of a sliding glass enclosure depends on more than the glass itself.
STRUCTAAS® systems incorporate engineered aluminium tracks and supporting components designed to maintain smooth, controlled panel movement.
Depending on the selected system, components can include:
-
Upper aluminium tracks
-
Lower guide tracks
-
Multi-track profiles
-
Precision rollers
-
Stainless-steel bearings
-
Panel carriers
-
Brush seals
-
Weather seals
-
Drainage channels
-
End stops
-
Locking components
-
Panel handles
-
Parking components
The aluminium profiles can be finished to complement the surrounding architecture and STRUCTAAS® roof structure.
Track Installation Options
Different floor and architectural conditions require different track solutions.
Surface-Mounted Track
Installed directly over the finished floor.
This is particularly suitable for retrofit projects and locations where recessing the track into the floor is impractical.
Recessed Track
The lower track is partially integrated into the finished floor to produce a cleaner architectural transition.
Flush / Embedded Track
Where site conditions permit, the track can be coordinated with the floor construction to achieve a more seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces.
Track selection depends on drainage requirements, existing floor construction, accessibility considerations and project conditions.
Weather Protection
STRUCTAAS® Glass Enclosure Systems are designed to improve protection against changing outdoor conditions while maintaining transparency.
Depending on the selected system, integrated profiles, brush seals, weather seals and drainage components can help reduce:
-
Wind penetration
-
Rain ingress
-
Dust
-
Unwanted air movement
-
Operational vibration
Because frameless sliding glass systems contain moving interfaces between panels, their weather performance differs from that of a permanently sealed façade.
Where enhanced air, water or thermal performance is required, our technical team can recommend an appropriate framed or insulated glazing configuration.
Natural Light Without Losing the View
One of the greatest advantages of architectural glass enclosures is their ability to provide environmental protection without visually closing the space.
Large areas of transparent glazing allow natural daylight to enter while preserving the surrounding landscape, cityscape, garden or rooftop view.
Minimal framing helps maintain the architectural openness that makes outdoor spaces attractive in the first place.
Create a Space for More Seasons
A terrace may be beautiful in perfect weather but difficult to use during rain, strong winds or cooler periods.
Glass enclosures can extend the practical usability of these spaces by creating a more protected environment.
For restaurants and hospitality businesses, this can help transform previously weather-dependent seating areas into more adaptable spaces.
For residential properties, terraces and pergolas can become comfortable extensions of the home's living environment.
Perfectly Integrated with STRUCTAAS® Roof Systems
A glass enclosure becomes even more versatile when combined with an adaptable roof.
STRUCTAAS® designs roof and enclosure systems to work together as a complete architectural environment.
Bioclimatic Louvre Pergola + Glass Enclosure
Adjustable aluminium louvres provide overhead sun, ventilation and rain management while sliding glass panels provide controllable perimeter protection.
Open the louvres and glass during favourable weather.
Close the roof while leaving the glass open for shade and ventilation.
Close both when greater weather protection is required.
Motorized Retractable Roof + Glass Enclosure
Combine a retractable roof overhead with horizontally sliding glass around the perimeter.
This creates multiple environmental configurations:
Roof Open + Glass Open
Maximum open-air experience.
Roof Closed + Glass Open
Overhead protection with open sides.
Roof Open + Glass Closed
Protected perimeter with open sky above when conditions permit.
Roof Closed + Glass Closed
A substantially protected outdoor living environment.
This flexibility allows one architectural space to respond to different weather conditions and uses throughout the day.
